Trent Wintermeier is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Texas at Austin. He is an Assistant Director of the Digital Writing and Research Lab, and a Senior Research Associate for the Mellon-funded AVAnnotate project. Trent is an Edward Guiliano Global Fellow through the Modern Language Association (2024-2025). His research has been supported by the Initiative for Digital Humanities, UT Austin's Humanities Institute, and the Rapoport Center's Sissy Farenthold Fund for Peace and Social Justice.
Trent has published related work in Sounding Out!, "Rhetoric After Sound: Stories of Encountering 'The Hum' Phenomenon," which attends to the rhetorical action of listening after acoustic valuations. Other work if his—relating to affect, digital rhetoric, sound studies, and community literacy—can be read in Heliotrope ("Affective Footprints") or listened to on Mél Hogan's podcast, The Data Fix ("Frequencies, with Trent Wintermeier"). He has work under review with Spark: A 4C4Equality Journal and Digital Scholarship in the Humanities.
